SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Rashes are one of the most common skin problems that can occur to people of any age, but they are more frequent with babies and teenagers. There are many kinds of rashes; however, the ones caused by heat and sweat are the ones that occur most easily. And these rashes can happen to even adults. In countries that are very hot and humid in climate, people often sweat a lot and get the feeling of being sticky and sweaty at all times of the day. It is often advisable to wear loose clothes in such areas, as wearing tight clothes can lead to rashes. But one can't really see rashes coming, and no matter how much you try and prevent it, there will still be a chance of you getting a rash.

It is to keep such situations in control and to treat the skin rashes effectively, that one must know some effective home remedies for skin rashes. One of the most common home remedies to treat skin rashes is to take a watermelon rind and rub it on the rash. Doing this frequently helps the rash to heal faster, and also leads to an instant calming and cooling feeling due to watermelon being a cool and watery fruit. Another thing that needs to be done is to increase the intake of Vitamin C in one's diet. That takes care of the itchiness on the rash and reduces it considerably. Alternately, one can brown around half a cup of flour in the oven, and then apply it on the rash. It is a soothing mixture that leads to instant relief.

At all times, it is very important to ensure that the person's body remains cool from the inside and the outside. Hence, the person should be constantly well hydrated by drinking a lot of water and other fluids. The intake of fresh fruits and vegetables should also be increased to keep the body systems clean internally, and also to ensure that the overall body temperature remains cool. Also, basic hygiene is a must, and one should bathe at least twice daily in summers. Areas near the genitals and underarms should be thoroughly cleaned, and so should be the waistline and thighs. Women very often get rashes on their thighs if they wear too tight clothes.

Skin rashes can sometimes be caused because of other factors as well, such as sitting on an infected toilet seat, or horse-riding. You may not know this, but the consequences of any of these can be really painful. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you clean toilet seats thoroughly with disinfectants at home, and should avoid using public toilets. Horse-riding often leads to a lot of sweat below the waistline and can cause rashes. Both these kinds of rashes can be treated by applying coconut oil frequently on the rash. In case the rash worsens, it is always good to consult a doctor and use some kind of anti-rash ointments to cure it.
