Scabies is a very irritating disease to deal with. Of all the skin diseases that one can catch, scabies causes the most itchiness and irritation, and is often too difficult to detect. The worst part is that a person who is suffering from scabies may not know about it until two weeks. He may even not feel any signs and symptoms of it, and may still be spreading it to other people. That is how powerful the spread of scabies is. The mites that cause scabies are so small that they cannot be seen by the human eye so easily. One needs a microscope for them to be identified. This is why doctors have to often take skin peel tests to identify what exactly a person is suffering from.
Of course, once detected, a person needs to go in for a regular treatment as advised by the doctor. But there are some home remedies as well that one can follow to aid the existing treatment. These home remedies are quite simple and safe, and are very effective in treating scabies and giving relief. The most common home remedy is to apply a paste of neem leaves on the affected areas. Neem is an ingredient of many herbal treatment methods, and is known for curing many diseases. It has great healing properties and helps to provide relief. Many people mix some turmeric as well as mustard oil along with the neem leaves and apply it on the affected areas. Both turmeric as well as mustard oil is again famous since ancient times for their healing properties.
Next, powdered bark of the tree Peepal is good to be applied on the affected areas. It helps the mites as well as the infection caused by the mites on the skin to clear off faster. The same happens when you apply fresh apricot juice on the affected areas.
Another thing that you can try out when you have more time at hand is applying apple cider vinegar on the affected areas. This needs to be left as it is for around 3-4 hours. After that, you must wash it with a turmeric solution, and then wipe off with a soft cloth. Make sure that you do not use soap before or after applying the turmeric solution, or else it would hamper in effective treatment.
Margosa oil, which is known for healing a lot of diseases, can also be mixed with turmeric powder to form a paste. This paste when applied on the affected areas gives instant relief, and helps in treating the disease very well. The anti-bacterial properties of the oil help to get rid of the infection that is caused by the mites.
One more thing that many people try is the sauna technique. It is believed that even though this process is a little slow, it is quite effective, because the dry air of the sauna helps to get rid of the mites. For added benefit, one could add either orange or eucalyptus oil in the sauna, as the mites can't tolerate the smell of either of these, and thus, they die.
