A common problem with many people in the world is that of oily skin. Not only does possessing such a skin cause irritation to the person in terms of managing and maintaining it, but it can also lead to several problems such as that of acne and other skin allergies. Besides, if a person having oily skin lives in a region that is humid all the time, then the problems have a tendency to grow. Hence, it is important for everyone to know some basic home remedies that can help deal with oily skin.

Most of the skin experts say that the most basic thing to do for people with oily skin is to keep washing their face as frequently as possible. This has two main advantages. One of course is that it removes the oil from the skin, and gives it a fresh and clean feeling after every wash. Secondly, it also helps to remove the dirt and other bacteria that might have been collected on the skin because of the oil. Thus, frequently washing the face keeps skin problems and allergies away.

Secondly, food eating habits need to be kept in check. Those having oily skin need to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables that help to cleanse the internal system of the body. With a well functioning system, all the excess oil and harmful toxins get removed. Also, the person gets a feeling of being light and healthy. This is because eating fresh fruits and vegetables helps the body and skin to maintain the natural moisture levels - not going above it, not going below it.

Junk food and preserved food (which is available in cans or tins) should be avoided. Foods such as chips and burgers lead to a lot of oil in the body. Other fried items too such as salty snacks or chicken nuggets, French Fries etc. as well must be avoided. Many experts suggest that pickles should also be consumed in less quantity.

Mild cleansers face washes, gels and soaps are available these days in the market for those having oily skin. It is always however good to first consult a dermatologist or a skin expert on what brand should be used.

Natural face packs that can be created at home are also very good for curing problems of oily skin. A face pack with crushed coriander, cucumber and tea tree oil is very good. Cucumber has Aloe Vera, which is considered to be a very important agent in most of the cosmetics that aim at treating oily skin. Another alternative could be to prepare a face pack of mashed apples with honey. Leave this for about 20 minutes on your face, and the clean with a damp towel. You will instantly feel the difference.

It is important to note that if oily skin is not treated at the right time, it can cause severe acne, which may eventually lead to other problems of scars and blemishes on the skin. Hence, its best to work on the root cause itself - oily skin- before it gets worse.
